Parents/Legal Guardians

EKTW Under-Age Throwing
Parents/Legal Guardians: What you need to know

At East Kingdom events, for your youth (age 12-17) to throw unaccompanied at the range, or where you’ll be sending your youth to an event with a designated “responsible adult” (RA):

  1. You or the RA are required to remain on site for the duration of the time your youth is at the thrown weapons range.
  2. You or the RA are required to have signed-in your youth at the event Gate with a SCA Minor’s Consent to Participate and Hold Harmless Agreement (waiver) or show a current SCA blue card for the youth thrower.
  3. If you anticipate designating a “responsible adult” to sign-in your youth at the event, the RA will be required to show the SCA Medical Authorization for Minors form completed by you for the youth.
  4. You or the RA will be required to review the Range Procedures and Range Etiquette with your youth and the Throwing Marshal in Charge.

For sending your youth (age 12-17) to an East Kingdom open thrown weapons practice with a designated “responsible adult” (RA):

  1. You are required to have attended at least one East Kingdom thrown weapons practice with your youth prior to their going to practice with an RA.
  2. You and your youth are required to have reviewed the Range Etiquette and Range Procedures with a TW Marshal prior to their going to a practice with an RA.
  3. Your youth will be required to show their current SCA blue card or provide the SCA Minor’s Consent to Participate and Hold Harmless Agreement (waiver) completed by you for each practice.
  4. The RA will be required to provide the SCA Medical Authorization for Minors form completed by you for each practice.
  5. The RA is required to remain with your youth for the duration of the practice. If the RA leaves, the youth is required to leave with them.

Throwers age 5-11 must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian at the range at all times.
